Gail Taylor
Gail brings 38 years of experience to group facilitation, instructional design and experiential learning to Tomorrow Makers. Gail uses a synergistic approach to link diverse parties, dissolve blocks of competition, and enable organizations and communities to tap into tacit and entrepreneurial knowledge. Gail has taught in public and private schools. It is here with young children, that she first thought about Group Genius. She was totally amazed at the creative abilities of her students and realized that they had as much to teach her about learning and teaching as she did for them. Student scores soared when Gail observed that there were only a few simple rules that she needed to practice rigorously. Within this discipline, freedom to excel became standard practice. In 1972, Gail turned her learning into The Learning Exchange, a not-for-profit corporation in Kansas City, Missouri, that continues to develop innovative classroom instruction. The genius of the Learning Exchange was that it brought all facets of the community together—young students, CEOs, scientists, teachers, artists, educators, economists, parents—into collaboration to design curriculum that was missing from 22 regional schools districts. Her work and philosophy in education expanded to the business and government communities when she and her husband, Matt Taylor, co-founded MG Taylor Corporation. Together, they blended their talents and created a system of collaborative environments, work processes and tools to catalyze breakthrough and innovative new solutions for high-performance teams. Leading companies and organizations that have experienced the Taylors' proven GroupGenius process include the World Economic Forum, Ernst & Young, Hewlett-Packard, the City of Orlando, the Washington D.C. school district, Borgess Health Alliance, HopeLink, Detroit Edison Energy, and Knight Ridder. Many participants in the MG Taylor process liken the process to Montessori for adults. Gail and Matt live in Gualala, California (part of the Redwood Coast community) and Gail is working with a small core team of near-by Point Arena citizens to create a sustainable, thriving future for the town, the Redwood Coast communities, and each individual residing there. Catherine Austin Fitts was an impetus for this renewal initiative by the Point Arena citizens. |
