Jake Bowman
Jake Bowman collaborates with Bonnie DeVarco to build scenarios for "Immersive Earth," a new media environment where students can explore the planet and issues such as evolutionary biodiversity and climate change in a global context. Bonnie and Jake are pioneers of Geocommunication, an audiovisual mode of learning through multi-dimensional geometry and hyper-spherical geography of animated digital globes, which swirl like liquid-crystal balls. Jake helped initiate the Intercommons (www.intercommons.com) which began as a collaboration with the Creative Commons to develop software licenses that allow better information sharing and more powerful communities for intellectual property development and distribution. Jake Bowman co-creates cyberspaces for shared story-telling. He works on market development for Talkspace Commons at www.talkspace.com and is a founding member of the Digitalspace Commons, the technology collective that produces Talkspace and much more. Jake has been a coordinator of the Digital Biota conference series on scientific and artistic investigation of virtual evolution, cyberbiology, and "artificial life" at www.biota.org. In the past, Jake was a researcher for: Dee Hock, President and CEO Emeritus of VISA Corporation; Allan Baker, Personal Advisor to the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia; and Lorenzo Hagerty, author of Spirit of the Internet, which won the 2001 Independent E-Book Award for non-fiction. His background includes market research for major technology companies and metropolitan newspapers. He enjoys international communication and travel, as well as restoration and conservation of antique textile collections. |
