Marc Canter

Marc Canter was the co-founder of MacroMind—which became Macromedia. He helped develop the world's first cross-platform multimedia authoring system (Director) and multimedia player (later known as Shockwave.) Marc was instrumental in helping the burgeoning multimedia industry in the 1980's. Since 1991—when he left Macromedia, Marc has been doing applied research in Interactive Music Videos, Scalable Content, Multimedia Personalization, rich media platforms and broadband authoring environments. Marc helped found Broadband Mechanics in 1999—and has since been working on digital lifestyle products, connecting the broadband + Home LANs + devices. Broadband Mechanics is just releasing the 'WebOutliner'—an on-line outliner. The next project for Broadband Mechanics is called the "Community Commons".
