| Title | The Social Web: Building an Open Social Network with XDI |
| Abstract | This topic will discuss the progress of the OASIS XDI specifications, an open standard protocol for trusted data sharing which PlaNetwork and Identity Commons are helping draft, and explore how it can do for social networking what similar open standards did for the Internet, email, and the Web. |
| Description | XDI (XRI Data Interchange - see http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xdi) is a new XML-based open standard for cross-domain data sharing, linking, and synchronization under development at OASIS, the leading Internet XML standards body. This topic is an opportunity for developers, community builders, and social networking activists to discuss the details of XDI, understand what a Social Web based on XDI might look like, and share the experience of the Identity Commons, PlaNetwork, and other development teams who are both helping to develop the standards and testing them by building a living federation of XDI-linked communities. |
